BRUNO

Bruno, male around 2-3 years old was found in August in Ag. Prokopios roaming with a huge wound to his neck, he was taken to the emergency vet and he sawn and clean his wounds. He is now fully recovered and has a charming personality ready to be your house pet !

CHAPLIN


Three Pointers were abandoned at our shelter by irresponsible hunters. Chaplin is one of them, Young, male, around 1 yr old. Was probably mistreated because of his submissive attitude.

DAGWOOD

Dagwood is a husky/collie mixed breed dog who is about a year and a half old, weighs 17 kilos, and has recently been neutered. He is polite, extremely clever and highly socialized with all people and other animals (including cats), comes when called, loves to ride in the car and will sit on command. He also knows how to open doors but has not figured out how to unlock them! He is gentle, playful and loving and would thrive in a colder climate than Greece since he has a husky coat and would be ideally suited to living a structured rural or semi-rural situation, but not one in which he is free to roam. A fenced yard with other dog(s) and house privileges would be perfect but he is young and will adapt to any situation which includes plenty of love and exercise. This is a wonderful dog and will make a fine addition to the right home. he is a perfect gentleman on the lead.

MAESTRO

FENJA

Fenja was dumped at the shelter one sunday morning, when it was raining like crazy, she was terrified of being in a new place, she missed her owners, but can you call them an owner when they dumped her when she was no longer of use ? She is a bit shy, but considering her past it is expectable, she is getting friendlier every day. She is a young setter, dumped irresponsibly by a hunter.

CLARA


Three Pointers were abandoned at our shelter by irresponsible hunters. Clara is one of them, she should be around 5 years old, very affectionate and she must have been treated as the puppy producer of the irresponsible hunter as you can clearly see that she has given birth many times

ZEUS

Zeus is one of the 3 gods that haven’t found their family yet. Born early May 2011 will not be a big dog, not weighing more that 20 kilos. He can get on remarkably well with other dogs and cats and adores children. He has been taught how to walk on a lead and is easily adaptable

ROCCO


Rocco was first found roaming around St. George / Flisvos beach up to the airport. He was taken to the shelter, he is a bit affraid of strangers but as soon as he understand you're a good person, then he loves to be loved. Young geran shepherd mix, he will not grow more, up to knee high..

POSEIDON

Poseidon is the second of the gods who are still under the care of NAWS but who would very much like to finally find his own family. He was born early May 2011 and will be no more that 20-25 kilos. He also gets along well with children.

FRANCESCA

She is a lovely girl that was obviously dumped by a hunter.... she is still a bit frightened as she was long time on the streets. She is recovering fast and will make a lovely pet. She is medium sized.

Daisy had seven babies, three of them found homes. These four puppies are Daisy's babies, they are looking for a permanent home and lots of love !

DAISY

Daisy was abandoned in Orkos while she was pregnant, had 7 beautiful babies (above pics) and she is now strong enough to find her own place, a family that will love her.

LENNY & LISA

Lenny & Lisa were found very tiny in a garbage bin in Ag. Prokopios when the season just finished. They've been from foster to foster till they were grown enough to be at the shelter. They are now strong and look for a permanent home for them

JOHNNY

Johnny is a male pointer that was thrown in NAWS shelter by his previous owner, a hunter, when he had no more use of him decided it was better to get rid of him... so he tied him up in the fence of the shelter together with Jimmy . He's been castrated and vaccinated. And to keep saving more animals we need some space in our shelter which is overcrowded now. So if you do not really like Johnny, what about one of the other dogs ??

KOUKLA

Koukla is an adult mix breed hunting dog. She appeared in Chora practically out of nowhere and insisted on staying on the same spot. We collected her once, took her to our shelter and she escaped in order to return to that same spot- we assume this is where she was abandoned. Koukla was “adopted” by a neighbour who kept her in not so good conditions. Leftovers for food and tied next to her poo. She was taken to the vet in order to be spayed but there we found out that she was already spayed by a non professional. Since she had already gone through enough we decided we were not going to let her go back to that same place and she is with ever since

PAVAROTTI / BARNIE

Barnie (Pavarotti) is one more dog that was “dropped” at the shelter- though thank God he was not thrown inside. He probably came from Moutsouna, he is less than a year old and has the heart of a puppy and loves everyone and every dog! Here is what his foster reported:

“ He enjoys attention and likes to be with others. He enjoys playing and running and is perfect for a family with children. Likes all humans, very sociable and friendly really likes being brushed and could live inside or outside a house. Can walk very well on the lead. Learns very quickly and if scolded will not repeat what he did. Though one day his lead had broken and was therefore loose he didn’t run away, he just found a softer spot for his nap! So, he spent more time free and again, he never tried to run away.
There are some things he is very afraid of such as brooms and cars. On one occasion when it was night e got so confused by the lights he had no idea what to do and where to go. He is not used to riding a car either. He just falls down and freezes throughout the whole ride."

SOPHIE

Pretty Sophie was found wondering near Agersani town, not the best place, she was immediately sterilized and fosterd, then she went to the shelter. She is a very nice and affectionate young dog. She has house manners and will let you know when is time to take her for a walk.

TEDDY / BILLY

Teddy was obviously a mistreated dog, he was wondering the streets on a broken collar fixed with wire (fortunately we got him before he got hurt from this) By his submissive behavior you can easily tell he's been beaten in his previous home, and probably never left out of a chain. He was very afraid of people, we tried to help him for about a month until he finally agreed to get close to us. He's been fostered now, and he shows that he's so thankful to their fosters for providing him with love he never knew before. Teddy is a big dog, like a teddy bear, loving and quiet, he gets along perfectly with other dogs and loves to be petted. He is above knee high and should weight around 28-30 kilos. He is castrated and vaccinated. And to keep saving more animals we need some space in our shelter which is overcrowded now. So if you do not really like Teddy, what about one of the other dogs ??

ANGY

This is a dog who NAWS has been taking care of since the early summer. She was found with her foot cut right down to the bone and heavily pregnant. She was sterilized about 2 weeks ago and is being fostered but her foster already has two large rescue dogs living in his 2 room flat it is impossible for him to keep her much longer. And to keep saving more animals we need some space in our shelter which is overcrowded now. So if you do not really like Angy, what about one of the other dogs ??
